GAGO GOES ON TO YPRES AFTER TRIUMPHANT ERC JUNIOR RETURN

Diogo Gago will compete on the Kenotek Ypres Rally later this month following his victorious return to the ERC Junior Championship. Portuguese Peugeot driver Gago claimed an impressive maiden win in the series on the Azores Airlines Rallye, his first ERC appearance of 2016. Having started the year concentrating on his domestic championship – in which he took a third two-wheel drive win from as many starts in the Azores – he is now looking to extend his ERC Junior campaign. Speaking after his success in the Azores, the 24-year-old said: “Today we celebrate, but tomorrow we will start working on our presence in Ypres. That will be our next challenge in Europe and would like to be able to confirm more presences abroad. That’s where we want to be and this result confirms that we can fight the best.” The ERC Junior Championship is open to drivers born in 1989 or later driving R2-specification cars fitted with Pirelli drivers, and is staged over six rounds of the ERC.
