Countdown on to ERC Barum Czech Rally Zlín

Barum Czech Rally Zlín – round eight of the 2016 FIA European Rally Championship – takes place this weekend (26-28 August) with a strong entry list competing for top honours on the asphalt classic. Ever-present on the ERC schedule for over 30 years, the rally takes place on fast, bumpy and sometimes broken asphalt roads around the city of Zlín, located in the east of the Czech Republic. Following a Qualifying Stage on Friday morning, the rally will begin that evening with the always-popular street stage in Zlín itself, which has been modified for 2016. Leg one continues on Saturday, split into three sections with visits to service inbetween. The first loop consists of the Březová and Košíky tests, while the second begins with Hošťálková and Semetín before a repeat of Březová. The other three stages are then repeated in the evening loop. On Sunday, the Kašava, Pindula and Maják stages will all be run twice. The entry list is headed by reigning European Champion Kajetan Kajetanowicz, with rivals including four-time event winner Jan Kopecký, Bryan Bouffier, Alexey Lukyanuk and Ralfs Sirmacis.
