ERC took my career to the top, says Hänninen
Juho Hänninen says that his experience of winning the FIA European Rally Championship in 2012 will spur him on to more success in next year’s WRC, having been signed by Toyota for a season-long campaign. Hänninen joins the long list of former ERC stars to be driving at the top level of the sport, having dominated the 2012 European championship season with four wins from seven starts. “All that experience I gained from the past is the reason why I am here now,” said the Finn. “In the ERC we had many unforgettable moments, and I was very happy to win the championship because that helped to get me noticed.” Hänninen also won the Intercontinental Rally Challenge in 2010, which like the ERC is also promoted by Eurosport Events, claiming 11 wins out of 31 starts. “One time we crashed on to the roof of a house – incredible but true – and Eurosport was there to film it!”
