SEASIDE SHOWDOWN FOR ROME’S ERC RALLY
Italy’s round of the FIA European Rally Championship is set for a seaside showdown when Ostia – on the banks of the Tyrrhenian Sea – brings the action to a close with a superspecial stage on Sunday 22 July. The 0.65-kilometre Ostia Super Special Sky Gate in the Province of Rome is due to take place from 19h18 local time and forms SS15 of Rally di Roma Capitale. Click for full story.
ERC STARS REMENNIK, ROZIN HONOURED BY RUSSIAN FEDERATION
The FIA-affiliated Russian Motorsport Federation has rewarded ERC2 stars Sergei Remennik and Mark Rozin with International Master of Motor Sports titles for their achievements in rallying. Albert von Thurn und Taxis has the honour of competing in his adoptive Rome when the FIA European Rally Championship fires up again this month. Although he flies the German flag on his Baumschlager Rallye & Racing ŠKODA Fabia R5, von Thurn und Taxis has been based in Rome for several years and is a fan of the city’s ERC round. ERC DRIVERS PLAN ROMA PRACTICE
A number of FIA European Rally Championship drivers will warm-up for next month’s Rally di Roma Capitale with an outing on Rally Internazionale del Casentino. Taking place from 6-7 July, the event is regarded as being ideal preparation for the ERC’s upcoming all-asphalt counter in Italy, which follows from 20-22 July. Click for full story.
MELEGARI ON FORM AS ERC HEADS TO ITALY
The FIA European Rally Championship will resume in Italy this month with Zelindo Melegari back on form in the ERC2 category following a third and fourth in his last two appearances. Last year’s ERC2 runner-up was out of luck on the opening two rounds in the Azores and Gran Canaria but has since scored well in Greece and Cyprus. Click for full story.
