ERC LADIES’ TROPHY WINNER FALCÓN GETS R5 CHANCE
Emma Falcón will take advantage of the experience she gained winning the ERC Ladies’ Trophy when she steps up to R5 power in the FIA European Rally Championship in 2019. The Canary Islander beat Catie Munnings to the ERC Ladies’ Trophy title on a final-round decider in Latvia earlier this month, while her performances during the season were good enough for fifth place in the ERC3 classification. ÉRDI JR FAST ON ERC STEP-UP
Tibor Érdi Jr stepped up from the ERC2 category to the FIA European Rally Championship’s big league in Liepāja – and was unlucky not to finish in the top 10. Érdi Jr was driving his newly-acquired ŠKODA Fabia R5 on Latvia’s ERC season closer. Click for full story.
 
BRYNILDSEN “HAPPY” DESPITE ERC CRASH
Eyvind Brynildsen has revealed he was “happy” despite his dramatic exit from Latvia’s FIA European Rally Championship season finale recently. Brynildsen, for whom Rally Liepāja marked his first outing since the EKO Acropolis Rally in early June and his first event with new co-driver Ilka Minor, quickly got to grips with the high-speed gravel roads. THREE YEARS, THREE TITLES: ERC GREAT GRIEBEL A CHAMPION AGAIN
Marijan Griebel has secured his third championship title in as many years, landing the Deutsche Rallye Meisterschaft in his homeland earlier this month. Griebel won the FIA ERC Junior title in 2016, the ERC Junior Under 28 crown last season and is now the winner of the German championship in a PEUGEOT 208 T16 co-driven by Alexander Rath. Roland Stengg marked his first gravel rally for a year with a season-best fourth in class on Latvia’s closing round of the 2018 FIA European Rally Championship. Stengg belied his lack of experience on high-speed gravel events to claim a top-five finish in the Pirelli-supported ERC Junior Under 27 category on Rally Liepāja.
