ERC 2019 TAKES SHAPE FOLLOWING FIA WORLD MOTOR SPORT COUNCIL DECISIONS
The FIA World Motor Sport Council met in St Petersburg, Russia, on 5 December. During the meeting, a number of proposals presented by the FIA Rally Commission, some of which related to the FIA European Rally Championship, were approved. Click for full story.
PETR LINHART GETS NEW ERC APPOINTMENT
Petr Linhart, a highly respected team co-ordinator and manager, plus event organiser will bring his knowledge, experience and enthusiasm to the FIA European Rally Championship in 2019 in an exciting new role. Linhart, known universally as Pluto, has been recruited by ERC promoter Eurosport Events as the ERC Competitor Officer. Click for full story.
ERC ACES CELEBRATE 2018 ACHIEVEMENTS IN PARIS
Leading drivers from the FIA European Rally Championship gathered in Paris on 3 December to celebrate the 2018 season. A boat cruise on the River Seine provided a superb setting for the event, which was organised by ERC promoter Eurosport Events and welcomed almost 150 guests, including title-winning drivers, team representatives, championship officials and partners. KING KAJTO PUSHED HARD BY ERC JUNIOR CONTENDER MARCZYK
Miko Marczyk once again underlined his reputation as one of rallying’s big hopes for the future by taking on and almost beating record-breaking FIA European Rally Championship winner Kajetan Kajetanowicz on Rajd Barbórka last weekend. Marczyk finished a fine fifth overall and fourth in ERC Junior Under 28 on September’s PZM Rally Poland in a ŠKODA Polska Motorsport Fabia R5. Click for full story.
THE BOSS DONE GOOD: HOUŠŤ GUIDES ERC’S LUKYANUK TO P7 IN PRAGUE
Alexey Lukyanuk joined forces with none other than his team boss Miroslav Houšť for the Tipcars Pražský Rallysprint in the Czech capital Prague on 1 December. Despite being forced to tackle treacherous stage conditions with standard tyres fitted to their Ford Fiesta R5, Lukyanuk and Houšť set a handful of top three stage times on their way to seventh overall for the Rufa Sport team. FRENCH RALLY WILL MAKE ME STRONGER, SAYS ERC JUNIOR GRYAZIN
Nikolay Gryazin believes his impressive run to fourth place on Rallye du Var last month can only make him a better driver as he prepares for the next stage of his, thus far, hugely promising career. Gryazin, the winner of the FIA ERC Junior Under 28 Championship for 2018* alongside co-driver Yaroslav Fedorov, was using the challenging French asphalt event to build his experience for 2019, when he’s planning to compete in the world championship alongside an ERC campaign, his reward for his ERC Junior achievements this year.
