*Agreement with TV Canarias boosts existing coverage package
The FIA European Rally Championship is proving a hit on stage and on screen with a flurry of broadcast agreements for 2017.
In addition to extensive coverage on Eurosport, ERC highlight packages are being broadcast on Fox Sports Asia, Garage TV in Spain, OSN in the Middle East and North Africa region, NEO Sports in India and neighbouring countries, TV6 in Latvia and Velocity in North America.
And following an exciting start to the ERC’s new era, which includes a two-tiered ERC Junior Championship with its major prize package, a compact schedule to control costs, plus a revamped championship for teams and a new event in Rome, Eurosport Events, the ERC promoter, is delighted to announce a partnership with TV Canarias.
Available throughout the Canary Islands, TV Canarias will show a 24-minute highlight programme following legs one and two of Rally Islas Canarias, carry a news feed from the hugely popular event, which has attracted a 125-car entry, while a crew will be on site during this week’s event to film footage for the Zona Motor TV programme.
Jean-Baptiste Ley, the ERC Co-ordinator, said: “With big entries and big interest, particularly in the new-look ERC Junior Championship, ERC 2017 is already proving a big success and confirmation of this new TV agreement further underlines the ERC’s appeal and positioning as Europe’s premier rally series.”
Meanwhile, Rally Islas Canarias is running from 4-6 May and counts as round two of the 2017 FIA European Rally Championship.
