Kajetan Kajetanowicz (LOTOS Rally Team)
Stéphane Lefebvre
Hermann Neubauer

Question to Craig Breen

After losing out on the title in 2013 and 2014 what’s your target for 2015 and what’s your strategy going to be?

CB: “The aim is the same as in 2013 and 2014 – but this time to succeed! The aim is to try and win the Championship. We had some very bad luck last year, and without that I think we could have won the title. We’ll try and win – that’s the plan.”

Question to Craig Breen

It’s your first start here so how does a driver prepare for an event they’ve never contested before?

CB: “I’ve tried to watch as many on-boards as I could. All the cameras from last year, even from this guy [Kajetan Kajetanowicz], were in wet conditions and I was fully prepared – but now you’ve made it snow! I discovered the car on snow for the first time today and it certainly makes things very different to dry Tarmac, that’s for sure.”

Question to Craig Breen

And while most of your rivals were probably taking a rest over Christmas you were competing on a couple of rallies. Please tell us a bit more about those and how you got on?

CB: “I did two rallies with an old Mk2 Escort, so I was doing some drifting! Each year, one week after Christmas, there is a rally for my late co-driver Gareth Roberts, so I’ve been very busy driving these old cars and co-operating with Peugeot Sport for this season. It’s been very busy.”

Question to Kajetan Kajetanowicz

It’s great to see you back on the Jännerrallye. After your performance last year, what can you achieve on your third start here in Freistadt?

KK: “I don’t want to think about this strange situation from last year – I want to focus on this fantastic rally! Now probably we have a lot of snow on the stages, the stages are very narrow and we have no place to make a mistake. I think we can achieve a good result. I want to fight, this is my nature, and I have a great team. We’ll see.”

Question to Kajetan Kajetanowicz

You were fastest in Qualifying this morning – why and what were the conditions like?

KK: “I don’t know – we did it! We have good tyres and I like driving on snow. I was trying to make the perfect line and it worked well.”

Question to Kajetan Kajetanowicz

How many ERC rallies will you do this year and can you tell us what they will be?

KK: “It’s strange, but at this moment I’m not sure. I want to be on seven, maybe eight, rounds, Now we are on Jännerrallye and Rally Liepāja. I spoke with Craig [Breen] and he said, ‘Kejto, come to Ireland, you can be fast there.’ Then we’ll see. Maybe Açores – it’s a beautiful rally, with beautiful stages. I hope we can be there.”

Question to Stéphane Lefebvre

Firstly, congratulations on becoming the first ERC Junior champion. How good was 2014 for you?

SL: “For me last year was very incredible. I have no experience in the WRC events and I make three victories in six events – it is a dream. I win two championships and it’s perfect for me. Okay, this year I think it will be more difficult for me to make the same in WRC2, but okay – it’s a new year.”

Question to Stéphane Lefebvre

What about this rally – what’s your target and what do you think of the stages after the recce?

SL: “The conditions have completely changed after the recce because of the snow, but it’s my first time here and my target is to finish and prepare well for the Monte Carlo Rally in two weeks.”

Question to Stéphane Lefebvre

You are going to be quite busy this season. What’s your programme and how excited are you?

SL: “Normally I do eight WRC2 rounds with the Citroën DS3 R5 and the WRC with Citroën in a DS3 WRC, normally Germany and France.”

Question to Hermann Neubauer

Austrian driver, Austrian rally – how much of an advantage does that give you?

HN: “I think it’s not such a big advantage. Okay, we know some places where every year it is icy, but I have never been here in such snowy conditions, so the advantage is very small.”

Question to Hermann Neubauer

What are the chances of you making more appearances in the ERC this year?

HN: “Normally I am planning to do more, but I’m not deciding until after this rally. A good result here will help us do another round, or more rounds, of the ERC, but it’s not in my hands.”

Question to Hermann Neubauer

Finally, you were in St. Oswald earlier this afternoon. What were you getting up to?

HN: “We were baking some bread – but I would not like to make a picture of this, because maybe my girlfriend is at home and puts me in the kitchen again when she sees me baking bread! It was a nice experience.”
